Your Physical Therapist

Dr. Rachel Selman

PT, DPT, Cert-DN, CSCS, CPSS

My name is Rachel – I’m a physical therapist, recreational athlete, wife, and mom of 2. I’m a firm believer in movement as medicine and want to use what I know to help you perform at your best.

I played soccer at Georgia Tech and graduated with honors with a degree in chemistry – then followed with my doctorate in physical therapy. My hands-on training was completed with Georgia Tech basketball and the sports medicine department at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Post-graduation, I obtained my certification as a strength and conditioning specialist as well as a performance and sport scientist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association – each of which allows me to delve deeper into athleticism beyond rehabilitation. I’m certified in dry needling and specialize in orthopedics/sports medicine as well as pelvic health.

My research has been published in the International Journal of Sports Physical Therapy regarding elbow pain in college baseball pitchers as well as my work creating the first exercise protocol for pre and postnatal athletes. I’m also the founder of Stirrups to Situps – a program designed to guide athletes of all levels through their postnatal recoveries. I’m adamant about a lot of things – one of them is that motherhood and athleticism are not mutually exclusive, and the other is that physical therapy should go beyond just baseline restoration of function.

My patients get better in fewer visits because of the time I’m able to give – your appointment time is for YOU and you only. I’m looking forward to helping you perform at your best whether that means making the olympic roster, picking up your grandkids, PR’ing your next Ironman, or all of the above.

FAQ

Do we take insurance?

While we don’t accept insurance directly, we do provide you with what is called a superbill which has all the codes required for reimbursement by your insurance company.

We strongly encourage you to send the superbill to your insurance, but while many of our patients do get reimbursed we can never guarantee payment on their behalf.

Not accepting insurance allows us to treat you 1:1 for a full hour in a way that is dictated by you and your individual symptoms as opposed to your care being dictated by insurance limitations.

Because your care is more individualized and we get the full hour with you, our patients typically require less sessions both in terms of frequency and duration as compared to the traditional physical therapy model – saving you money overall!
